The VT Debate Club is open to all Virginia Tech students and has something for every student. Whether you are simply looking to practice your public speaking, build your resume, or are a seasoned debater interested in competing with some of the top universities in the country–the debate club has something for you.
As a debater, you will get taught the ropes, then have the opportunity to compete in Tournaments nationally, join the chapter of Delta Phi, the National Debate & Forensics Honor Society, enhance your public speaking and argumentation skills, make friends and network with other Universities. If you want to stand out to employers as a serious candidate who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their work done–join debate.
We’re open to everyone and anyone–its college, just give it a try.
We have some new positions that we are recruiting for: the research team, and the marketing team:
- The Research Team will consist of researchers who help the team out with research in an area that they are passionate about. This can be anything from a strong belief in environmental sustainablility, to a critique of Kantian ethics to how a certain policy will effect small business. There is a place for everyone, and this is a great way to build your resume, and get involved, while doing something you enjoy.
- The Marketing Team will consist of people who have experience in or are passionate about marketing. If you are on this team, you can conceptualize, design, and carry out marketing tactics on behalf of the club. This team is setup to mirror the experience that you would gain in a marketing consulting firm, and as such–it will be run autonomously from the club. Its a phenomenal way to make your resume pop, get some relevant work experience, and test out ideas in a risk free environment.
